Cupcakes for my cupcake

J's birthday is next week and although he never lets me do much to celebrate, he acquiesced this year when he realized Bo would go nutzo for his big day even if he doesn't.
So, she and I are planning the festivities. It will be small--just us four--and personal, I hope.
I checked out this book about birthday cakes from the library and tried to get Bo to choose a style for us to mimic. Um, 2 year olds like anything that remotely resembles cake, so she basically did a cartwheel every time I turned the page.
We ended up leaving it up to J and he said he wants cupcakes. Super.
That gives me an excuse to build a cupcake stand. I found what sound like good directions here.
I'm off to find some unique wrapping paper for it tomorrow, plus some ribbon to match (or not).
