It was a rough winter in these parts. We were buried under snow for weeks and trapped in the neighborhood for several days at one point. Not that we minded much. Except for one misadventure on the city bus, being snowbound was as magical as it should be.
Now that most of the snow is gone, one reminder of the rough weather is this stick that likely snapped off one of our neighbors' trees that surround our backyard. (We live in a very pine tree neighborhood, but amazingly there isn't a single pine in our yard. We have a couple of cherry trees, some plum trees, a dogwood, etc., but no pines.)
As the weather warms (or is less freezing, I should say) and we spend more and more time outside, this stick keeps getting noticed. First by Bo, as you can see here, and yesterday by the dog, who isn't tiny but looked quite petite with this thing in her mouth.
When you're a kid--or a dog--what's better than finding a big gnarly branch in your yard? It's kind of like the cardboard box of the outdoor world--it can be anything your imagination wants it to be.
I stumbled across your blog a few days ago and love it. I just wanted to say that her coat is so cute.
