I know you're not supposed to talk to young children about upcoming events too far in advance. A month or two to them is an eternity.
But Bo is obsessed with birthday parties, and she keeps talking about hers, which isn't until early July. I keep telling her the milestones we have to hit before then--like my birthday!--but I think she's still under the impression that it's just around the corner. I'm starting to involve her in the planning since I've given up trying to distract her from the topic.
For a while, she said she wanted a "blue birthday." So I started thinking about things like bluebird-shaped cookies and blueberry treats. Then, she decided my birthday would be blue and hers would be pink. Eventually she made it through all the colors, so today I suggested she have a "rainbow birthday" and she seems thrilled.
So ... put your heads together. Any ideas? I've made rainbow Jell-O before--that could be fun. We could do a totally '80s style rainbow cake. We could have an activity where all the kids make stick horses, but instead of horses, they make unicorns. ...
Or we could all just wear Mork suspenders. Now that would be awesome.
