My cousin and I exchanged e-mails tonight, writing about a few different things, but basically about what it's like to be a mom. Amazing and rewarding, for sure, but also a lot of hard work--hard work that never quite gets done.
Like most women, I'm sure, I never truly appreciated my mom's role in my life until I had kids of my own. I'm so sorry you had to wait 31 years for that, Mommy.
I'm blessed to have so many incredible moms in my life, including my sister and sister-in-law and cousins and aunts and many friends. Happy Mother's Day to all of you.
The first shot is one of my favorites of my mom holding me. Can't you just see the sass and spark in her eyes?
Then there's my Auntie Peggy--my Godmother, who I love dearly.
Next is Gloria, J's mom, after whom Bo gets her middle name. I never got to meet Gloria--she passed away about three weeks before J and I met--but she raised an amazing son and I wish I could thank her for that. I'll try to find a photo tomorrow that better shows how gorgeous she was.
The last two are the engagement photos of Nana (my mom's mom) and Grandma (my dad's mom). What was it like to be a parent in their times? I can hardly imagine.
