We're leaving on a jet plane tomorrow (Wednesday), heading to lovely Rhode Island for some Fourth of July fun and good times with the crazy Italian side of the famdamily.
We'll be in R.I. for three weeks, and I'll definitely be blogging from there. But I'm signing off for a couple of days so we can get settled. Don't rob our house while we're gone. Thanks.
Packing is rough with two kids. Below are the contents (are the contents? is the contents? It's late. Help me, grammar gods) of Bo's carryon, including her embroidery, a Melissa and Doug lacing activity and her roll-up clothespin doll bed.
The DVD player is on the table somewhere, too. We bought her the 1977 movie "Pete's Dragon" today--something new to hold her interest for 3,000 miles. She keeps calling it "Dragon Pizza," which is just killing me.
Is "I'll be your candle on the water" stuck in your head now, too? Ha, ha. Gotchya.
Have a wonderful trip! I'll look forward to reading some East Coast experiences.
I loved Pete's Dragon as a child - but I've got I swear I saw a dragon in my head now. (thanks!) If you need something new for the trip home, pick up a book of colorforms (those old vinyl sticker things). Get this - they stick to the airplane windows!!!

I'll be your candle on the waaaaa-ter....my love for you will always burn....keep holding on, you'll make it...here's my hand, now take it...look for me, reaching out to show, as sure as river's flooooooowwwwwwww....I'll never let you gooooooooooo....I'll never let you go.....
Are you impressed yet? That was one of my favorite favorite favorite movies as a child! But what I really have in my head right now is "he has, the head of a camel, the neck of a crocodile..." (the "it's not easy" song)...

I LOVE Pete's Dragon! And we have those same lace-up cards! They're great.

Oh, psychmamma, I meant to link to your list. I actually had written the post with a link to you in it, but somehow I lost it and when I rewrote it, I forgot. Yes, a great list indeed.
Valerie, you are cracking me up. It took all the maturity I could muster not to rip the headphones off Bo's head and start singing when the candle on the water scene came on the DVD player on the airplane.
Stacey--I love the tip. I'll have to find some. Bo was great, though. Got any tips for an 8 month old?
