It's 95 degrees here today (don't tell Magpie--she thinks it's snow-boot weather), so we decided to have a lemonade stand.
I've always wanted to build the girls a lemonade stand like this, but we didn't have time or energy for carpentry today. Instead, we set out a folding table with a sheet on top and made a sign we hung from the bush. Nothing fancy, but it was charming enough to attract four whole customers (I tried to explain the word "recession" to Bo. She didn't get it).
To make the sign, I channeled this Christmas carol project from the blog Katie Did (which, for a very creepy and sad reason, is no longer being written.)
My construction of the letters was a bit different than Katie's, though.
To make the letters, I folded pieces of construction paper lengthwise (like a hotdog, not a hamburger) and then cut the shapes of the letters with the folded side of the paper at the top.
Then we sandwiched the letters around a piece of twine and glued the two sides together on the inside, like this:
Make sure there's a good amount of glue in the fold so the letters don't slip around.
So, I don't know, if you want more than four customers, make something more elaborate. But if you're pretty happy to have a bunch of leftover lemonade in the fridge, the sheet-on-a-table-and-sign-in-a-bush method works fine.
The girls' third customer today was the ice cream lady. Does that just scream "summer" or what?
So cute! I like your simple set-up better! We recently moved from a neighborhood filled with hooligan children that have daily rock fights (that's right) to one with bike riding children that have lemonade stands. We buy a cup at every single one and cry grateful tears.
But not in front of the children. We wait until later.
Long live the Stand!!
(p.s. veeeeery creeped out by the Katie Did situation. Yikes.)

Rock fights!?! Good Golly. Glad you moved.
Yeah, isn't that situation creepy? Poor thing. I loved that blog.
