The kids' rooms were pretty clean this morning and the beds were made, so I thought I'd snap some photos. Warning: please don't expect Ohdeedoh gorgeous here. Nothing exactly matches and a lot of what you see was either from Ikea or the thrift store.
We spent a little energy "designing" their rooms, if you can call it that, but at some point you have to put your time and money in other places. I like to admire children's rooms online and in magazines, but mama likes new linens now and then, too.
We recently moved the girls into one bedroom so the other could be used as a playroom. Lately it's been more of a classroom, though. Ever since heading back to school, they've been crazy about pretending I'm their teacher. It's way more fun than when they ask me to pretend to be their boyfriend (to which I reply, NO!).
Here's the bedroom:
You will see a lot of crafts on the walls in these pictures. I know it looks cluttered and junky, but there are some drawings they've done that I just can't bear to throw out or even store away.
We have our fair share of plastic. Honestly, this little tree house is one of their favorite toys.
Moving on to the playroom/craft room/book room/classroom:
This rocking swan basket has been holding stuffed animals since I was a kid:
Obligatory princess paraphernalia:
Santa found this dollhouse on Craigslist a couple years ago. I want to move in.
Allowance jars that I never remember to fill, photos of my dad when he was a baby, a painting of a bird done by a family friend and some alphabet art we made in our pretend school over the weekend:
Do you see the alligator teeth on the letter "a"? And do you see how I didn't realize that Bo was putting the giraffe spots on the wrong side of the "g"? I'm fired. I love the smiley face, though.
This phone is one of my all-time favorite Farm Chicks finds:
I (heart) handwriting paper:
As you can see, the wooden cupcakes pictured in my banner above are still with us:
There you have it. Not exactly Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, but real.
Definately Ohdeedoh worthy! Very cute... You should submit!

Don't worry about what other people or another blog might say - it's your effort, home, and children. I'm a huge blog reader, but even I have to say that this is a totally charming room!
Your girls are very lucky.

You have the same play kitchen I found at a garage sale and then made a fridge to go with! http://ajennuinelife.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=103&action=edit Do you know what brand it is? I searched the net, but couldn't figure out where it came from...

Hey, I realize this is an old post but I was just wondering where you got the little beds from in your girls' rooms? Are they from Ikea? And when did you transition them into the big beds? Thanks! CUTE ROOMS!!
